Check Your Downpipes

Downpipes can rust over time, so check them every year to see any rust spots that cause holes in your downpipes. The best way to check there is no blockage in your downpipes, is to put a hose down and turn the water on full bore. If the water flows back up the downpipe, you know you have a blockage. This will need to be cleared by a plumber, to prevent an overflow of water outside your home.
